This post is a little known fact. In October 2025, at the same time there was flooding in Alaska, there was a storm in Arizona. I posted about it twice and to my surprise, no interaction. So, I’m taking the time to share it here.
The difference between a Micro-burst and a Tornado.
A burst storm is a powerful downdraft from a thunderstorm that spreads outward at the surface, causing intense straight-line winds, while a tornado is a rotating column of air formed by storm updrafts that produces a swirling vortex and typically a different damage path. Both can be rapid and damaging, but micro-bursts involve descending air and straight-line winds, whereas tornadoes involve rotational dynamics and a distinct vortex.
The reason why I shared this information is because even though the locals are calling it a “micro-burst”, as someone who has lived in Tennessee for over 20 years, I know a tornado when I see one. The way the damage “hit and miss” was a tell-tale sign of it. Let me share my trip to Kiwanis Park in Tempe, Arizona the day BEFORE the storm it. We had rains but nothing out of the ordinary. Now I will do another post on Kiwanis Park in the near future, but today I am showing this for informational purposes only.

Thank you for watching that short but sweet video. If you noticed, it was pretty peaceful and serene. Now, this is what happened the very next day. Luckily, I was at work when all the damage happened. When I got off of work, is when I was able to FULLY take-in what all had happened. Street lights were out, police were directing traffic, businesses were out, homes had no water, electricity, or wifi. This is what happened.
After The 15 Minute “Storm”

Well…what do YOU think? A “micro-burst”, or a “tornado”? I would love to hear your thoughts, especially if you live in tornado alley! It’s really amazing to me how nobody knew about the flooding in Alaska, or the storm damage in Arizona. You can see for yourself that unless you are actually there, anything else you hear is just sugar-coated nonsense.
Some blog sites will show the “glamour” shots or the photos that the tourist agency wants you to see, I’m independent and will always be independent. I will go out myself, take photos, and report the REAL parts of the city from a local point of view.
Now, one thing that I have learned when I lived in Tennessee is how to prepare for a storm. I will share a few tips for you here.
Storm Prep 101
Every knows the basics, Candles, Battery-Operated Candles, Emergency Towels, Emergency Contacts either in your phone or written in a phone book. The basics, but did you know about a “bug-out bag”? Yes, I did a video on an emergency “bug-out” bag. Check it out here.
I hope this video helped you. Let me know if there are some things that I missed. There is nothing wrong with being prepared, and there is always a way to do things on a budget!
